I watched Hiiro no Kakera out of boredom on Hulu. The main female protagonist is pretty useless and helpless throughout the entire first season. It is so painful and annoying to watch, but she is a little better in the second season. Season one is SO slow, there is no romance or background information on the characters. I guess they wanted to build upon it, basically season one gives you a framework and season 2 is more intense [fills in the missing pieces]. The point is the story itself is kind of dull especially without romance. This anime requires a lot of patience because you probably won't get "answers" until season 2 or 16 episodes into this anime. (13 episodes per season) I don't recommend it for those reasons, but if you have the patience and like the "otome" themed anime, you might like it. This was originally an otome game I think.
